Blow Dryer Attachments

The Pick Attachment

Pick attachments are plastic and have two combs on each side of a narrow nozzle. You attach the nozzle to the end of your blow dryer to give yourself the ability to comb locks as you dry them. It’s used mostly for course hair types to straighten or stretch the strands out. Using a pick attachment helps detangle and dry your hair faster so that you can achieve a smooth style in less time.

How to use the Pick Attachment

  1. Begin with small sections of hair; use clips to hold the locks you’re not working on out of the way.
  2. Use your hand to hold the small section of hair near the ends. Turn your blow dryer on with the pick or comb attachment already attached, and begin by combing your hair as you normally would – beginning with the ends and working your way up to the roots. Keep your dryer facing down to allow the hair to stay smooth, which reduces damage to your strands.

The Concentrator Nozzle Attachment

Concentrator nozzles are used for all hair types. Use this blow dryer attachment in combination with a brush to straighten your locks and to build volume. Dryers that don’t have the concentrator nozzle attached tend to blow your hair haphazardly about with little-to-no control – especially if you’re not using a brush! This can cause your hair to frizz or tangle, which is the opposite of what anyone wants. But by using the concentrator nozzle, you’re able to pinpoint precisely where you want the heat to go, which leads to a shorter drying time!

How to use the concentrator nozzle attachment

There are a few tricks when it comes to using the concentrator nozzle attachment. Straightening your hair is easy with this attachment; all you need is a round brush, the attachment, clips to keep your hair separated, and of course your blow dryer.

  1. Begin by drying your ends first, working your way up to your roots. Your hair may curl at the ends due to the size of brush you’re using to pull your strands taut with.
  2. To add volume to your roots, hold your hair taught and aim the heat toward your roots. Use a root-boosting product before beginning to dry for a longer-lasting style.

Never hold the heat in one section of hair for more than a second or two since it can singe and dry out your ends, thus causing split ends.
