Blow Dryer Attachments

The Diffuser Attachment

A diffuser is the big round attachment that has pegs on the top, which act like fingers to help hold the hair in place while diffuse drying your locks. Curly locks that tend to frizz, fall flat, or lack volume will improve greatly after being styled with a diffuser hair dryer attachment. Diffusers can be used to lock-in the natural curl of your hair, and are also used on strands that have been permed.

How to use a Diffuser

  1. If you have naturally curly hair that tends to be curlier in the back or lower layers, then wet set your locks before drying. To do this, you’ll take small sections from the top of your head and twist them to ensure you have curls not only on the lower layers and back of your head, but also on top too.
  2. Next, apply a styling gel if you like, or just continue by flipping your head over and scooping up your hair in the diffuser’s pegs – while trying not to touch your hair with your fingers too much. Hold the diffuser in the same place for a few seconds before scooping another section of hair up again.
  3. Lift your head up and lean to the side while continuing the scooping motion with the diffuser. Lean your head to the other side to dry that section of your locks. Continue rotating your head so that you are sure to achieve a full, bouncy, and voluminous curl.

Some of these attachments will be provided with your blow dryer, but in some cases, you’ll have to purchase them separately. They come in different sizes, so keep your blow dryer’s specifications in mind. If you’re unsure about what your dryer’s specifications are, ask for help in the store because they are familiar with such issues and can point you in the right direction.
