Taking Care of Wasted Skin

Wasted skin is characterized by skin that is ravaged by the environment. Stress, smog, pollution, lifestyle and other factors can leave their mark on your skin, leaving it looking tired or even discolored. This is often because the skin isn’t getting enough oxygen. If you live in a largely populated city or are under a great deal of stress, don’t worry, as there are things you can do to help keep your face looking fresh and healthy. Here are a few tips on taking care of wasted skin.

The first step in the fight against wasted looking skin is to wash your face regularly. Avoid using soap, as it can irritate the skin. Instead, try a gentle cleanser and wash your face twice a day; once in the morning and once before you go to bed. This is especially important if you’re dealing with pollution or smog.

Toner can be used to remove any leftover residue from the cleanser and also makes the skin feel refreshed. Just be sure to avoid toners that contain alcohol, as this can over dry the skin. Moisturizer is also an important part of your skin routine, as it will help keep the skin hydrated. Try a moisturizer for your skin type or that advertises nourishing or regenerative properties, and the best are those that contain an SPF of at least 15.

Other tips to healing your wasted skin is to try using a humidifier in your home or where you work, if you can, which can help keep your skin hydrated; try hydrating or regenerative masks once a week, and make sure you’re getting plenty of rest. Also, make sure you’re getting a healthy diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and drink plenty of water. A healthy diet can go a long way in keeping your skin looking healthy thanks to the water keeping your skin hydrated and the importance of vitamins and other nutrients found in fresh foods.
