Burning fat doesn’t always have to mean hitting the gym for endless hours. In fact, there are a few things you can do outside of the gym to boost your fat-burning abilities. Patience is a key to melting fat because it takes time to work off the 3,500 calories found in just one pound of fat. And if you’re looking to burn off these 3,500 calories, you’ll need to whip your metabolism into shape.

The Importance of Food
To burn fat, you have to know what types of food you should include in your diet and types of food you should stay away from, cause instead of burning your body fat, you will gain more fat cells.
You are what you drink, so if you’re drinking too many sugary juices, sodas and energy drinks, then you’ll soon become dependant on them. Water is the obvious healthy choice, and it can keep you from filling up on empty calories that are found in sodas, coffee and certain teas. But remember that you don’t have to limit yourself to just water!
Green Tea isn’t only delicious, but it’s nutritious, cancer-fighting, and provides a metabolism-boosting effect as well. You can find green tea extract in pill or liquid form, and taking either will help increase your metabolic rate by 4%; if you take three daily doses, you could burn 60 more calories per day than you’re currently burning. Drinking green tea is trickier because there are flavored, carbonated, and imitation teas out there, so be sure to read the labels and check for added sugars.
Don’t Binge Drink
We’ve covered what you should be drinking, but it’s also great to know what to avoid. Alcohol (yes, wine included) depresses your central nervous system, which causes your metabolism to slow way down. If you enjoy drinking an alcoholic beverage with high-calorie meals, the fat you ingest won’t be burned off properly and can be stored as body fat.
Add iron to your diet
Eating enough iron is another helpful fat burning tip. When your body is lacking iron, your cells won’t receive the proper amount of oxygen they need, thus resulting in sluggish metabolism. Adding an Iron supplement or multi-vitamin(s) to your daily routine can fix this problem. You can also eat more chicken, red meat, healthy grains, egg yolks, dark leafy greens, dried prunes, raisins, oysters, clams, beans, soy beans, and/or lentils. Plus they help keep you hydrated, while at the same time, burn calories when they’re being digested.
Add a banana to your breakfast
You don’t have to limit eating bananas to breakfast because they’re good at any point in the day.

Time to eat
Eating five small meals daily is more effective at keeping your energy balanced throughout the day than eating three meals. Unfortunately, it’s hard for people with busy schedules to find time to eat five times a day. Luckily, snacks can help you get from meal to meal so your energy levels don’t plummet to the ground.
