You don’t have to give up comfort foods to change your body size! And it isn’t hard to manipulate an apple pie recipe because it’s such a classic. Apples are a good source of fiber as well as antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. As mentioned before, almonds are a highly-nutritious nut that works well with fruit. Coconut oil is the perfect alternative for butter and other oils because it’s the leanest one there is with the most nutritional value! Here is how to prepare a healthy apple pie at home to share with friends, it’s tasty and great for losing weight.

  • Collect 3 apples of your choice
  • Coconut oil
  • Almond flour
  • Cinnamon
  • Sugar or Truvia (what’s truvia?)
  • Vanilla extract
  1. Begin by preheating your oven to 375 degrees. You can either peel the apples or leave them skinned, but cut the apples up into slices and layer them in a pie pan. Grab your cinnamon and sprinkle generously over the apples. Mix them up and add more cinnamon if you’d like; don’t worry about adding too much unless you’re not fond of the flavor. Follow with a tablespoon of sugar and sprinkle it evenly over all of the apples.
  2. Take only a half tablespoon of coconut oil, break it up, and place it throughout the apples if it is solid. If your coconut oil is liquid from being in a warm environment, simply drizzle the coconut oil over the apples!
  3. Grab 3-4 tablespoons of almond flour and sprinkle it over your apples. If you don’t have almond flour, you can use a food processor to crush your almonds, or simply chop some almonds and sprinkle them over your apples – it will be delicious either way! Take a teaspoon of coconut oil and sprinkle it over your creation again after you’ve finished with the almond flour. If you’re not using almond flour, you can skip the second dose of coconut oil. Finish the preparations by sprinkling a pinch of salt over the apples.
  4. Put your dish into the oven for 10-15 minutes. The apples will be soft, almond flour slightly crunchy, and your mouth should be watering. A serving size should be about a 1/2 of a cup, so try not to overeat on this dessert!

Alternatives:
If you’re only making this for yourself, use one apple instead of three and a pinch of coconut oil instead of half of a tablespoon. You can even add a teaspoon of honey instead of using sugar to make it sweet. Peal a pear and mix it in with the apples to add a little different flavor.

Quick Desserts and Snacks

Good desserts are often the simplest of recipes, however great for losing weight! Peaches, a dollop of vanilla yogurt, and gluten-free granola are all great together and won’t make you feel guilty at all. It’s also great to eat peaches and pineapples with cottage cheese; add a few blueberries and you’ve got a colorful snack to tide you over until dinner!

Dehydrating fruit at home is easier than you think – although waiting hours can sound like a challenge in itself. Throw a cookie sheet full of halved or quartered strawberries in the oven when it’s at 100 degrees Celsius (210 degrees Fahrenheit) and wait 3 hours before removing them. Give the strawberries a little more flavor by sprinkling them lightly with salt and pepper. They are healthier than buying dried fruit in a bag because they’re not fried or pumped with additives!
